Thank you for helping to purchase these treasures!
Thanks to the magnificent generosity of local people and grants from three national organisations, Saffron Walden Museum Society Ltd (charity 1123209) achieved its target of £10,880 and has been able to purchase these four historic objects below for the collections.
They will be on display from Saturday 24 August when there will be short curator’s talks in the Museum’s ground floor gallery at 11.00am, 2.30pm and 4.00pm.
The Museum has been very fortunate to receive grants from the Art Fund, the Arts Council England / V&A Purchase Grant Fund and the Headley Museums Archaeological Acquisition Fund towards the cost of the exquisite medieval reliquary pendant, found in Farnham parish.
The Museum Society has also been able to purchase a Bronze Age gold ring from Great Dunmow, a gold posy ring from Lindsell and a rare silver penny of Harold II which dates to 1066 from Ugley
Thank you to all those who have supported our crowd-funding campaign or donated by cheque or cash.
Your support has saved these local treasures for Uttlesford!
