Outreach : Gardens of Easton Lodge – Sunday 21st July
Remembering the Gardens of Easton Lodge in the World Wars
21st July 2024, 11am-5pm
There was an airfield in the Easton Lodge estate during WW2 and it was a training ground for WW1. Information from the Trust’s archives and from other exhibitors will tell the stories of the men and women involved.
Music duo, Perfect Vintage, will sing 1940s songs to evoke the era.
Visitors will find something of interest for all. The Essex and Suffolk Austin 7 club will be with us. Our archivist will be displaying stories and pictures of the Easton Lodge airfield contribution to D-Day. There will also be visiting contributors bringing to life the roles of the American Eighth Air Force in World War II, the Rifles in World War 1 and the life of local people during the wars. Children will enjoy a Garden trail and crafts.
The Gardens will also be at their best in July, with lots of colour and vegetables growing apace in the walled kitchen garden.
Hot bacon/cheese/hummus rolls, homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks.
Adult entry £5.50 if bought in advance or £6.50 on the gate.
Children under 16 FREE
Dogs on leads welcome.
Advance tickets will be refunded if the Trust has to decide the Gardens cannot open, due to a significant risk to visitors and volunteers, for example from adverse weather or very poor ground conditions.
