Remembering the Gardens in the World Wars, The Gardens of Eastern Lodge. Sunday 20 July
We will be at the Gardens of Easton Lodge on 20 July, helping to remember the Gardens in the World Wars. During WW2, the Easton Lodge estate was home to an airfield that had previously served as a training ground during WW1. The Trust’s archives hold fascinating stories about the men and women involved in these historic events. Visitors can explore a variety of displays from Saffron Walden Museum and other community groups, including the Rifles Living History Society, the 8th Association, and the Dunkirk Museum. To enhance the atmosphere, live songs performed by Lancashire Belle will evoke the era and encourage friendly sing-alongs. There will be something for everyone to enjoy, no matter your age. Kids can participate in a garden trail and enjoy fun craft activities, making it a family-friendly day out.
The gardens will look especially stunning in July, bursting with vibrant colours and vegetables in the beautifully maintained walled kitchen garden. When it’s time to take a break, enjoy delicious food options like hot bacon, cheese, or hummus rolls, along with homemade cakes and refreshing hot and cold drinks.
Tickets are just £6.00 in advance or £7.00 at the gate for adults. Children under 16 get free entry. Dogs on leads are welcome too!
