Early Saxon re-enactor event

Swords of Penda deliver an authentic early Saxon re-enacting experience in the grounds of Saffron Walden Museum.

Crafts; Warrior combat training @12:30 & 14:30; King’s court @ 13:30, meet Aelfnoth the kings Archer and hunter, meet Thomas of Hoddeshill the king’s champion warrior and meet King Penda of Mercia – there will also be displays of weapons and other living history

Standard Opening Times

Monday – Closed

Tuesday – Open 10am-5pm

Wednesday – Open for schools and pre-booked groups only during term time.

In Essex School Holidays we are open to the public 10am-5pm on Wednesdays

Thursday, Friday & Saturday: Open 10am – 5pm

Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays: Open 2pm-5pm

(During the winter months we close earlier at 4.30pm November – February)
