“Books, Our Bridges to Bigger Dreams”
A day of culturally diverse storytelling, arts and activities for families with children aged 2-12 years, linked to Black History Month.
The event spotlights authors and illustrators from culturally diverse heritages—this year including Jamaican, Zimbabwean, Cameroonian, Asian, Ghanaian, and Irish voices. Our programming is designed to be inclusive, imaginative, and deeply engaging, with a special focus on early years through our Under-5s segment.
There will be culture-infused experiences that blend storytelling with interactive workshops including:
- Illustrator and writing sessions
- Mancala exploration and traditional games
- “Spice and Utensils of Old” hands-on learning
- “Africa in Fabric and Fashion” exhibits
- Music, percussion, and crafts
- Author meet-and-greets
- A tailored activity linked to the museum’s current exhibition
