A free immersive art installation and exhibition opens at the Old Sun Inn, Saffron Walden, famously known as Cromwell’s Headquarters.
The art installation across six upstairs rooms of the Old Sun Inn heralds a new era for the medieval building since its acquisition by historic buildings specialist Douglas Kent and a business partner in 2023.
Saffron Walden Museum have put together a 17th Century inspired town trail to tie in with the exhibition.
Intrepid time travellers are invited to explore Saffron Walden looking for 17th Century buildings and landmarks, starting with brass rubbing at the ‘There Be Giants’ exhibition and finishing up in the Museum (normal museum admission fees apply). On the 20th of April from 10.30-11.30 and 2.30-3.30 Saffron Walden Museum are holding free Tudor object handling activities in the great hall (normal Museum admission fees apply).
The trail will run from the 19 April – 1 May during venue opening hours.
Visitors can pick a trail up from the Museum or the Old Sun Inn. Activities are also available for pre-booked school parties.
